Sudden Fiction with quote
Anxiety fills the air as the lottery is about to be announced. Sherila is sitting on her old worn out and coffee stained couch as sweat seeps out of her pours that are colder than ice. The smell of burnt hotdogs is in the air because the neighbor has turned perfectly good meat into a ball of black goo for the third time this week. Hearing the man’s voice crackle faintly on the T.V. is driving her crazy beyond belief. In her right hand is the T.V. remote, which hopefully is tough because when the number start to be read off she claps down and superman couldn’t break her grip. To win the lottery would bring more than just joy and enthusiasm to Sherila, it would bring a cool breeze of opportunity into her world as all her problems would fly out the window. When the man starts reading off the numbers she doesn’t move a joint, because she doesn’t want to risk the chance of not hearing one of the numbers that could lead to her destiny. As the man rattles off the numbers her hands fill with pools of sweat and her spinal cord is stiff with fear. Every number has been right, but the last number is yet to be announced. Slowly announcing the last number as it trickles off his tongue and into the microphone Sherila become ecstatic. At one time the remote was held tightly in her hand, but it is now flung into the air like a slingshot because she has just won! Nothing is moving and everything around her has seemed to stop as she gasps in disbelief. While inhaling the smell of burnt hot dogs she realizes it is now the smell of her problems going right out the window. All that can be heard throughout whole block is the screaming and crying of Sherlia as electricity is now filled throughout her house. Touching her ticket slowly and softly, she never would have imagined that a miracle was possible. Completely thrilled, Sheila pulled out her phone to share the news. Today she learned a lesson that will last a lifetime and will be with her always in her heart. When times are tough, you just have to keep fighting through them to get the good things that are right around the corner.
